Honestly, I think the government should invest more in concerts. Concerts are a great way for people to relax after work or study, and I feel this is really important nowadays. Also, live music creates a special atmosphere people can’t get from Spotify, so it’s something unique. Supporting concerts means helping young musicians to grow, and without support many of them would just give up. On top of that, big events bring tourists, so it’s good for local businesses like cafés, hotels and even shops. Music gives people something positive, especially in stressful times, and this can improve the overall mood in society. I guess that’s why I’d be in favour of more investment in concerts.
To be honest, I don’t think the government should spend too much money on concerts. There are more urgent things, like hospitals or schools, and they always need more funding. Concerts are nice, but they’re not a basic need, so it’s not fair to put them first. People who want to go to concerts can just buy a ticket, so it doesn’t really require public money. Also, not everyone likes loud music, so it doesn’t feel fair to spend taxes on it. In hard times, the money could be better used somewhere else, for example to improve transport or healthcare. That’s why I think concerts should mostly be funded privately.
