Should students have physical education and do sports at school? (added on 1 October 2025)
  • to possess a talent
  • be naturally good at
  • naturally-born (writer, entrepreneur)
  • be naturally gifted to do something
  • physical education at school guarantees that every child gets some exercise, because at home many kids just sit in front of screens playing games or watching YouTube
  • making PE part of the school program ensures that even children whose parents are too busy or not interested in sports still stay active
  • school sports help create healthy habits from a young age, and if this isn’t done at school, many children won’t develop these habits on their own
  • PE in school gives all children equal opportunities to try different sports, while at home they might never have access to proper equipment or coaching
  • regular physical activity in school helps prevent health problems, and without PE many children would probably not move enough to stay fit
  • school provides a safe and structured environment for sports, while outside of school some children don’t have safe places to play
  • team sports at school teach cooperation and social skills, which kids can only practice if they actually take part in organized activities
  • PE classes give children a healthy break from studying, and without this push from school they might never balance study and activity properly
  • discovering talent often happens at school, because coaches notice it (at home this chance is lost if parents don’t actively encourage it)
  • if PE isn’t in the school schedule, most kids won’t replace it with something useful, they’ll just spend even more time on their phones
I think physical education should definitely be part of school. The main reason is that it guarantees every child does some exercise. At home, most kids would just sit with their phones, play computer games, or watch YouTube, so school is really the only place that pushes them to move. It’s also important because not all parents have time or even the awareness to make sure their children are active. When it’s in the school program, at least you know every child is doing something. Another point is that PE helps build healthy habits from a young age. If kids don’t learn that at school, many of them won’t pick it up later. And school gives all children equal chances to try different sports. At home, some families might not have the equipment or money to give their kids those opportunities. It also keeps children healthier, because regular activity at school prevents a lot of health problems. Besides, school is a safe place for sports, and it teaches social skills through team games. Without organized PE classes, kids might never learn cooperation or teamwork properly. And honestly, if it’s not in the schedule, most students won’t replace it with something useful. They will just spend more time scrolling online. So, I’d say PE in school is really necessary. It’s not perfect for everyone, but it’s one of the few guarantees that kids actually stay active.
