Yes, I think it’s really difficult for the government to replace all petrol cars with electric cars. First, building enough charging stations across the whole country would require huge investments, and this can take years. Another problem is that many people still can’t afford electric cars, so even if the government wanted to push the transition, not everyone would be able to participate. Car manufacturers also need time to produce enough electric vehicles to meet demand, because switching from petrol to electric production is not instant. Finally, in some regions electricity production may not be sufficient or environmentally clean, which would reduce the environmental benefits of electric cars. Because of all these challenges, a full replacement of petrol cars seems very hard to achieve in the near future.
I think it’s hard, but not impossible. First of all, governments can offer subsidies, tax cuts, or other incentives to encourage people to buy electric vehicles, which makes the switch more affordable. Car-sharing programs and fleet purchases by public institutions can also speed up the transition because they replace many petrol cars at once. At the same time, new technologies are making electric cars cheaper and faster to produce, so supply is gradually catching up with demand. People are also becoming more aware of environmental problems and are willing to change their habits, which supports the government’s efforts. With a combination of these measures, I think a complete transition could eventually happen, even if it takes some years.
