Is it good to reward children too often? (added on 10 Jan 2026)
  • to be proud of
  • to feel proud of
  • to take pride in
  • no:
  • I don’t think it’s good to reward children too often because too frequent rewards may:
  • make children spoiled
  • make children expect rewards for everything
  • make kids less motivated to do things for themselves
  • reduce intrinsic motivation
  • make children impatient
  • make children focused only on the reward rather than the activity
  • create unnecessary pressure to perform
  • yes:
  • I think it’s good to reward children too often because frequent rewards:
  • can motivate kids
  • encourage consistent good behaviour
  • help children build confidence
  • make learning more fun
  • show children that effort is appreciated (when children know their effort is appreciated, they start trying harder naturally)
  • can help children develop good habits
Actually, I don’t think it’s good to reward children too often. If kids get something for almost everything, they might start expecting rewards all the time, which isn’t healthy. It can also make them less motivated to do things for themselves. Sometimes, it makes them impatient or focused only on the reward rather than the activity. It can create unnecessary pressure, too, because they feel they always have to perform. In my opinion, praising and encouraging them now and then is much better. So they learn that putting in effort matters and feel proud without expecting a reward every time.
Well, I think giving children rewards fairly often can be helpful in some cases. For example, I’ve noticed that a small reward can really motivate kids when they’re learning something new. It also helps them build confidence, especially if they’re a bit shy or nervous about trying. Rewards can make learning more fun, too, because it feels like a little game rather than a chore. I’ve seen that when children know their effort is appreciated, they start trying harder naturally. Well, and in the long run, it can help them develop good habits, like finishing tasks and not giving up easily. Of course, it’s important not to overdo it, otherwise they might expect a reward for everything. But overall, I think it’s a useful tool if done thoughtfully.
